Privacy Policy

The short version

Let's Jam is a place to meet people to build side projects with. To make that work, we collect a small amount of professional information about you, mostly from your LinkedIn profile. We don't sell your data, we don't use it to train AI models, and we don't share it with advertisers. Other people on the platform can see your public profile. That's it.

Who we are

Let's Jam (“we”, “us”) operates the website at letsjam.live. This Privacy Policy describes what information we collect from you, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to everyone who signs up for or uses the service.

What we collect

We collect the following from you, directly or indirectly:

  • Account info from sign-in. When you sign in with LinkedIn or Google, we receive your name, email address, profile photo (LinkedIn only), and a unique identifier from that provider. We never see or store your provider password.
  • Professional profile. Your current company, role, city, LinkedIn URL, and (for LinkedIn sign-ins) the public LinkedIn photo. We pull these either from your sign-in metadata or by looking up your public LinkedIn profile through a third-party search provider.
  • What you share. Anything you write in your profile (past work, links to X, GitHub, your portfolio), any ideas you post, any requests to collaborate you send, and any photo you upload as your profile picture.
  • Technical data. Standard server and analytics data such as IP address, browser type, pages visited, and referring URL.

Why we collect it

  • To run the service. Sign you in, show your profile to people you choose to share it with, connect you with collaborators on ideas.
  • To verify you're a real person. Matching your sign-in to a real LinkedIn profile cuts down on fake accounts and gives other users confidence about who they're meeting.
  • To communicate. Send transactional emails such as a welcome message and notifications when someone wants to collaborate with you.
  • To improve the product. Understand which features people use, where they get stuck, and what to build next.

Who sees what

Your name, profile photo, current company, role, city, and any links and bio you write are visible to other signed-in users when they look at your profile or when you appear next to an idea you posted.

Your email address is never shown to other users. It's only visible to the creator of an idea if you specifically request to collaborate on that idea, and only after they accept your request.

Ideas you post are visible to everyone on the public feed. Requests to collaborate are private between you and the creator of the idea.

Who we share data with

We share the minimum necessary information with a small set of third-party services that help us run Let's Jam. We don't sell your data, and we don't share it for advertising.

  • Supabase. Hosts our database, file storage, and sign-in. Stores your account and profile data.
  • Vercel. Hosts the website and processes web requests.
  • Exa. Helps us look up your public LinkedIn profile during sign-up so we can pre-fill your professional details.
  • Resend. Sends transactional emails (welcome email, collaboration request notifications).
  • PostHog and Google Analytics. Tell us how people use the site so we can improve it. Both can use cookies or browser storage.
  • LinkedIn and Google. Handle the OAuth sign-in flow. They see that you signed in to Let's Jam.
  • Legal compliance. If we're required by law to disclose information (subpoena, court order, etc.), or if we believe in good faith it's necessary to investigate fraud or abuse.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and equivalent browser storage for three things: keeping you signed in, remembering preferences (like where to redirect you after sign-in), and analytics. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings. If you block cookies, sign-in won't work.

How long we keep your data

We keep your account and profile data for as long as your account is active. To delete your account, email us at chase@letsjam.live from the address on your account, and we'll delete your profile and associated data within 30 days of receiving the request.

We may retain certain information for longer if we're legally required to (for example, transactional records, or data necessary to resolve a dispute or enforce these terms). Aggregated, anonymized analytics with no link back to you may be retained indefinitely.

Your rights and choices

You have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. Most of this you can do directly from your profile settings:

  • See your data. Your profile page shows everything we hold about you.
  • Correct your data. Edit your profile or upload a new photo any time.
  • Delete your account. Email us at chase@letsjam.live from the address on your account and we'll delete it.
  • Export your data. Email us and we'll send you a copy of everything we have on you.
  • Opt out of analytics. Use a browser-level opt-out (Do Not Track, Global Privacy Control), an ad blocker, or your browser's privacy controls.

If you're in the EU, UK, California, or another region with specific privacy rights, those rights apply to you and you can exercise them by contacting us at the email above. We won't discriminate against you for using them.

Where your data is processed

Let's Jam is operated from the United States. The third-party services we use may process data in the United States and other countries. By using Let's Jam, you consent to your data being processed in those locations under their respective safeguards.

Children

Let's Jam is not directed at children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has signed up, please contact us and we'll delete the account.

Security

We use industry-standard practices to protect your data: encryption in transit, encrypted storage, restricted access to production systems, and authenticated APIs. No system is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security, but we work to make a breach unlikely and to respond quickly if one happens.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top and, where appropriate, notify you by email or a notice on the site. Continued use of Let's Jam after a change means you accept the updated policy.
